The reconstructed fortress of Narva (to the left) overlooking the Russian fortress of Ivangorod (to the right). Narva Castle is a castle in Narva, eastern Estonia. It was founded in 1256 by the Danes and the first stone castle was built in the beginning of the 14th century. Ivangorod Fortress is a Russian medieval castle established by Ivan III in 1492 and since then grown into the town of Ivangorod.
